Do you draw your lineart traditionally, and then color under it in photoshop?

What do you do do to make that work?
Do you just set your lineart layer to overlay?

I've tried a couple of different things, and I have yet to find a satisfactory result.

uhh hard to say, my pencil work always made good lineart *shrug* x.x I always have lineart on bottom n colors are always on multi or diff kind of layers of that sort
